The 2011 National Gymnastics Challenge will consist of a modified traditional format.
MODIFIED TRADITIONAL FORMAT (warm-up; compete): The open stretch, timed warm-ups and competition are conducted in one gym in which there is only one set of apparatus. The timed warm-ups immediately precede competition on each event (this format eliminates the requirement of a 30-second touch warm-up).
Registration for the team competition is $45.00 per team per level as indicated on the Official Registration Form. Team rankings will be determined by the total of the top three (3) scores from each event for each team registered. There is no designation of team members unless clubs enter more than one team. Teams with more than 10 team members will be separated into different groups and start on different events and possibly different sessions. It will be necessary to provide a minimum of 2 coaches with team members over 10 members.
ALL participants of the 2011 National Gymnastics Challenge will receive an all-around plaque and be recognized on the awards stand. Placement awards will be given for all levels. The USAG R&P and Georgia AAU recommended age groups will be used as a guideline however age groups may be broken down further depending on the number registered in each age group in each session. Placement awards will be given to a minimum of half the number of participants in each age group.
Team awards will be awarded to 1st to 3rd place teams for all sessions and all levels. A National Gymnastics Champion banner will be awarded to each first place team.
A. All current rules of USA Gymnastics J.O. Program will be used for all USAG levels of competition. USAG Prep Op levels will follow the Regional Guidelines as outlined for Region 8. Prep Op Guidelines are here. Current Georgia AAU rules will be used for all AAU divisions.
B. Floor Exercise Music: Only music on CD will be accepted for this competition. Coaches are responsible for bringing their gymnast's music to the designated music table in competition order. The coach is responsible for giving the Music Coordinator the start cue. All Floor Exercise music must be clearly marked with the Athlete's first name, last name and team name.
